Kingsley Okotie, a spokesperson for the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC), reported that more than 12 personnel from the Air Force base at Sam Ethnan Barracks in Ikeja, Lagos, invaded the IKEDC office early on Thursday, March 6, 2025. Okotie told Vanguard that the personnel arrived in a truck, physically assaulted the company’s staff, and stole laptops and phones. He noted that many employees were left unable to find their belongings after the incident.
Okotie explained that the invasion was motivated by IKEDC’s disconnection of electricity to the Air Force base due to an outstanding debt of over N4 billion. He reported that the personnel not only assaulted and harassed staff but also seized about 16 company vehicles and caused extensive damage to the offices. Additionally, they stole laptops and phones, and destroyed all IT infrastructure, including disabling the CCTV cameras.
