The PDP has stated that a coalition of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-governors Peter Obi and Nasir El-Rufai, and other political figures could secure a decisive victory over President Tinubu and the APC in the 2027 election. According to the party, if the coalition is genuine and united, it could potentially conclude the election by 1 pm on election day, leveraging the combined votes of over 13 million from Atiku and Obi in 2023 versus Tinubu’s 8 million. Deputy National Youth Leader Timothy Osadolor emphasized that the success depends on commitment, unity, and addressing public discontent, with rising issues like hunger and insecurity fueling support for the opposition. The PDP suggests Nigerians are eager for change and may rally behind such a coalition to oust the APC, reminiscent of 2015’s political shift.

The PDP leader highlighted that less than four years ago, Atiku and Obi together received over 13 million votes, surpassing Tinubu’s 8 million, and suggested that if they unite again amid Nigeria’s rising hunger, insecurity, and frustration, they could potentially win decisively by 1 pm on election day. He criticized the APC’s practice of distributing funds to state governors for political patronage, viewing it as evidence of mismanagement and corruption that fuels public anger. Osadolor emphasized that such actions reveal the government’s disregard for public trust, noting that the political elite constitutes less than 10% of the population and questioning how they justify misappropriating vast sums meant for all Nigerians.

Osadolor emphasized that for the coalition to succeed, effective mobilization and campaigning—especially targeting youth and marginalized groups—are essential. He urged all stakeholders to set aside personal ambitions and collaborate to present a strong alternative to the APC. He warned that APC’s actions, such as mismanagement and corruption, are fueling public frustration and motivating Nigerians to vote them out in 2027. Osadolor also advised President Tinubu to consider retirement, suggesting that with proper strategy and unity, the coalition has the potential to end APC’s rule and bring positive change to Nigeria.
