In Asagba Ogwashi, Delta State, unidentified gunmen attacked a church over the weekend, shooting the pastor and abducting six worshippers. The incident was confirmed by Delta State Police Public Relations Officer Bright Edafe, who noted that it was reported on Saturday evening.
A rescue team is currently pursuing the assailants in the bush, according to Edafe. The gunmen attacked Elyon Paradise Ministry Church in Asagba Ogwashi during a night vigil, abducting six congregants and fleeing to an unknown location. Apostle Divine Omodia, the pastor, was shot and had two fingers severed by the attackers. So far, the kidnappers have not made any ransom demands to the church or the victims’ families. The injured pastor has been taken to an undisclosed hospital, where medical staff are working to save his life.
