The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) announced that it received 573,519 applications for 3,927 job openings in its 2024/2025 recruitment exercise, just one week after the application portal was launched. Finance Minister Olawale Edun previously confirmed the Federal Government’s approval for hiring these new officers. NCS National Public Relations Officer Abdullahi Maiwada clarified that applicants are divided into two categories: professional support staff and general duty officers.

NCS National Public Relations Officer Abdullahi Maiwada broke down the 573,519 applications received for the 3,927 job openings:

* For general duty officers, there are 249,218 applicants in the superintendent cadre and 153,593 in the customs assistant cadre.

* For support staff, there are:

* 27,722 with HNDs or university degrees in the superintendent cadre

*115,634 with NCE or National Diploma in the inspector cadre

*14,400 with secondary school certificates and a minimum of five credits in the customs assistant cadre.
