The Kano contingent’s auto crash at the National Sports Festival has resulted in 21 deaths, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). The incident involved 32 people—31 men and 1 woman—primarily due to over speeding of a Kano State Government Toyota Coaster Bus. The crash occurred on May 31, 2025, along the Kano–Kaduna Road at Gadar Yankifi in Garun Malam Local Government. The injured and deceased have been transported to Nasarawa Specialist Hospital in Kano.

Preliminary findings confirm that 21 people lost their lives in the crash, while others sustained various injuries. The injured and the deceased have been taken to Nasarawa Specialist Hospital in Kano.

FRSC Sector Commander MB Bature expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, emphasizing the importance of road safety. He warned drivers against speeding, overloading, and traffic violations, which are major causes of accidents. Bature extended condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a swift recovery. The FRSC is ramping up patrols, surveillance, and public education efforts to prevent future incidents. Road safety remains a shared responsibility, and all drivers must do their part to ensure safer roads.
