BENIN CITY – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) expressed surprise at the ruling of the Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which confirmed Sen. Mondfay Okoebholo’s victory as governor.
A party representative stated that while they were not shocked by the result itself, they were taken aback by the Tribunal’s decision. The PDP plans to analyze the judgment further and will convene soon to decide on the next steps. They emphasized that the Electoral Act allows for a review based on a certified true copy of the unit results, which they believe supports their claims. The party asserts that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Sen. Okoebholo are holding onto a “stolen mandate,” which they intend to reclaim.
