The Lagos State Police Command has dispatched personnel to ensure public safety before, during, and after the 2025 Eid el-Fitr celebrations. CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command’s Spokesperson, announced this in a statement on Saturday. CP Olohundare Jimoh, the Commissioner of Police, has allocated sufficient staff to vulnerable areas throughout the state to prevent any security issues.

CP Olohundare Jimoh has ordered the immediate deployment of personnel from the Conventional Police, Elite Strike Forces, and Tactical Units of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to key locations across Lagos State. These deployments focus on identified crime hotspots to minimize criminal activity and ensure a safe Eid el-Fitr celebration for residents and visitors.

The deployment includes Strike Forces, Tactical Unit Officers, intelligence personnel, bomb squads, and conventional police teams equipped with armored vehicles and patrol units. Their efforts will particularly focus on Eid prayer grounds, celebration venues, and recreational areas to ensure the safety of Muslim faithful and other attendees. Special attention will be given to recreational centers and public spaces expected to host large gatherings.

The police spokesperson emphasized that strategic locations in Lagos will be well-policed to proactively prevent crime during the Eid el-Fitr celebrations. These measures aim to address any potential security breaches and maintain public order throughout the festivities.

He noted that the Lagos State Police Command will collaborate with other security agencies to enhance internal security and has instructed all officers to carry out their duties with professionalism and respect for citizens’ rights. Officers are expected to be courteous yet firm while performing their responsibilities.

The spokesperson also urged parents and guardians to advise their children not to engage in any disruptive behavior that could disturb the peace in the state.
