Governor Abdullahi A. Sule of Nasarawa State expressed his commitment to cultivate all available arable land to advance his administration’s agricultural and wealth creation goals. He noted that while the state is blessed with fertile land, it remains significantly underutilized.
During a five-hour train journey through China’s Henan province, Governor Sule observed the well-developed agricultural land, which inspired his vision to implement cluster farming strategies in Nasarawa. He aims to establish “core agriculture zones” by matching specific crops to suitable areas.
Sule emphasized the importance of partnerships for maximizing land cultivation, referencing the state’s recent distribution of tractors and seedlings to local governments as a sign of his administration’s dedication to agriculture. In response, Mr. Chen Qiang from the Chinese delegation expressed enthusiasm for supporting large-scale mechanized farming in Nasarawa, acknowledging the region’s superior soil quality compared to some in China and their desire for collaboration.
