Former President Muhammadu Buhari revealed that he supports himself through rental income from one of his two houses in Kaduna State, highlighting the significance of transparency and accountability in public service. During an APC caucus meeting on January 25 in Katsina State, he emphasized that he did not exploit his position for personal gain, acknowledging the difficulties of governance in Nigeria.

In a speech delivered in Hausa, former President Muhammadu Buhari stated that he owns only three houses: one in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, and two in Kaduna State, with one of the Kaduna properties generating rental income that covers his daily expenses. He emphasized that after eight years in office, he has not accumulated wealth through illicit means.

Buhari also mentioned that many Nigerians do not fully understand the challenges of governing a diverse nation like Nigeria, often unfairly blaming leaders during or after their time in office. He expressed that he feels healthier and more relaxed since leaving the presidency.
