The Kaduna Elders Forum has called for the recall of Senator Lawal Adamu Usman, who represents the Kaduna Central senatorial district, due to claims of non-performance and recent allegations of assassination attempts. The elders criticized the senator for poor representation and failure to fulfill his campaign promises, expressing disappointment in his actions and lack of advocacy for the people amid economic hardships.
In a statement signed by Chairman Alhaji Inuwa Bala Rigasa, the forum noted that no other elected official in the state’s history has performed as poorly as the current senator. They referenced reports of an alleged assassination attempt on Usman, which he had mentioned without providing further details.
The Kaduna Police Command released a statement indicating that they have not received any formal complaint from Senator Lawal Adamu regarding his recent claim of being attacked by thugs in Kaduna on New Year’s Day. Despite efforts to reach him, the police were unable to make contact. They expressed embarrassment over the senator’s social media post about the alleged attack and have initiated an investigation to verify his claims.
As of the statement’s release, neither the police nor local residents have confirmed the incident. Consequently, the police demand his immediate recall from the Senate, stating they can no longer tolerate his excuses.
“It is regrettable that Senator Lawal Adamu Usman has been silent and unreachable to his constituents for more than 18 months in the Senate.”
