Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau stated that the recent attacks and killings in parts of the state are not merely due to farmer-herder clashes but are instead a coordinated crime backed by those who profit from conflict. He made these comments during the “The Plateau Experience” Fashion and Arts Exhibition in Abuja. On April 2, gunmen attacked the communities of Manguno, Daffo, and Josho in Bokkos Local Government Area.

The attackers killed numerous victims and caused significant destruction to homes and properties valued in the millions. Governor Mutfwang, emphasizing that these assaults are the result of organized crime rather than farmer-herder conflicts, reassured the public that the government and security forces are implementing measures to prevent further incidents.

During the event, he expressed gratitude to attendees for their support despite the state’s ongoing security challenges, noting that they chose to proceed with the event as a show of resilience. Mutfwang called for unity against the efforts of those seeking to instill fear, stating that these attacks stem from malicious individuals opposed to peace in Plateau. He assured the citizens that they would ultimately triumph over these threats.

Governor Mutfwang praised the exhibitors for showcasing Plateau’s tourism and business potential, highlighting the event’s role in placing the state on the global map.

Mr. Chuwang Pwajok, General Manager of the Plateau Tourism Board, referred to Plateau as a treasure trove for tourism as well as natural and mineral resources. Miss Christabel Bentu, speaking on behalf of the event organizers, acknowledged the governor’s support for the tourism sector and the state’s developmental efforts. The event was attended by notable figures, including former Senate President Bukola Saraki and former Minister of Women Affairs Pauline Tallen.
