The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended three suspects linked to the murder of 28-year-old Ogubode Adedamola, a 2024 graduate of Lagos State University (LASU). Five additional suspects are still at large. Police spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin announced the arrests of Pastor Whepetoji Sunday, Sherrif Adebayo, and Omolara Ajisomo in a statement on March 7, 2025.
The Lagos State Police have updated their investigation into the death of 28-year-old LASU graduate Ogubode Adedamola, confirming it is now classified as a murder case rather than a missing person’s case, as previously stated. Commissioner of Police CP Olohundare Jimoh emphasized that significant progress has been made, with efforts focused on locating Adedamola’s body and determining the cause of death.
In a statement, CP Jimoh urged the community to remain calm and avoid actions that could hinder the investigation. He has assigned the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to lead the inquiry for a more thorough examination.
So far, three suspects have been arrested: Pastor Whepetoji Sunday, who received 70,000 Naira from the victim’s account; Sherrif Adebayo, who received 300,000 Naira; and Omolara Ajisomo, who allegedly assisted her children in fleeing to Cotonou, Benin Republic after they each received 300,000 Naira from the victim’s account. Five other suspects are still being sought.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Jimoh, stated that efforts are underway to apprehend five fleeing suspects involved in the case. He assured the public that the police will diligently work to ensure that those responsible are caught and brought to justice. The findings of the investigation will be released to promote transparency and uphold justice.
