The Kano State Police Command announced the arrest of 78 suspects and the recovery of weapons, illicit drugs, and stolen properties across the state. Commissioner of Police Dr. Ibrahim Bakori highlighted these efforts to combat crime during a press conference. Among those re-arrested was Sulaiman Danwawu, a 32-year-old known drug dealer from Tudun Yola Quarters.
The Kano State Police Command revealed that Sulaiman Danwawu, previously charged in 2022 for possessing 500 cartons of suspected Tramadol, was re-arrested with additional illicit substances. Additionally, police apprehended a suspected armed robber with two Beretta pistols and ten rounds of ammunition. Between April 23 and May 9, 2025, the police also arrested five armed robbers, seven drug dealers, one cattle rustler, four fraudsters, 13 thieves, and 48 thugs. Items recovered include firearms, various drugs such as Tramadol and Cannabis, vehicles, household items, counterfeit currency, and livestock.
Commissioner Bakori highlighted that the recent successes show the effectiveness of the police’s strategies in fighting drug abuse and related crimes, which often lead to thuggery, robbery, and violence. He also reported notable declines in phone snatching, thuggery, and car theft. Bakori assured residents of the police’s commitment to maintaining peace and urged the public to support with credible information. He expressed gratitude to the media and citizens, emphasizing the importance of cooperation to keep Kano safe.
