Police in Kaduna State have arrested two suspected cattle rustlers and recovered 273 cows linked to notorious bandits.

According to DSP Mansir Hassan, the Police Public Relations Officer, the operation was carried out on May 11, 2025, following credible intelligence about the movement of rustled cattle, mainly from Kauru, Kaura, and Kachia local government areas, passing through the eastern axis of Akilibu via Rijana Forest.

The Anti-Kidnapping Unit, led by CSP Sani Zuntu with support from the military and local vigilantes, intercepted the cattle along the Niger-Kaduna border in Ishau, Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State. The suspects, Tanimu Ibrahim and Bello Musa, were arrested in possession of the cows. Interrogations revealed that the cattle belonged to two known bandit leaders currently at large. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and dismantle the criminal network involved in cattle rustling and banditry.

Kaduna Police Commissioner CP Rabiu Muhammad, who was present during the operation, commended the officers for their swift action. He reaffirmed the police’s commitment to combating all forms of crime and urged the public to continue providing valuable information to support ongoing efforts. He assured that Kaduna State remains committed to maintaining safety and security.
