Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has issued a warning against roadside preachers using loudspeakers in public areas, especially markets, citing noise pollution and disturbances to residents. He announced that violators of this noise regulation would face a fine of ₦500,000. A viral video shows the governor confronting an unidentified preacher at a market, urging him to cease his disruptive preaching.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo advised a preacher to hold sermons in a church or rent a suitable open space, emphasizing that those genuinely interested in listening would seek him out. Speaking to traders at Ochanja Market in Onitsha, he stated that preaching in a marketplace disrupts business and violates noise regulations. He reiterated that public spaces cannot be converted into churches and warned that violators would face a ₦500,000 fine.

Soludo also announced a crackdown on false pastors and prophets in Anambra, underscoring the need to prevent noise pollution that affects residents’ well-being.
