A disaster was narrowly avoided on Wednesday in Taraba State when classrooms at Government Secondary School, Namnai, Gassol LGA, collapsed during heavy rain. The incident occurred while final-year students were taking the WASSCE exam, forcing hundreds of students, exam officials, and NYSC members to flee. Eyewitnesses reported that violent winds and rain caused the building to give way around 6 p.m., trapping many beneath the rubble. Dozens of students and staff sustained injuries, and some were rescued hours later by local residents. The storm also damaged several houses in the area. The injured received medical attention at a nearby health center.
