Two individuals have been confirmed dead following a road accident on Friday night in the Elelenwo area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Meanwhile, a gas cylinder explosion in the Oraszi area on Saturday resulted in 17 injuries.

According to a source at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, three victims from the accident were brought in by the police, with two already deceased. A female passenger remains in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit.Reports indicate that the victims were driving a Toyota Corolla back to Port Harcourt from Eleme when the vehicle crashed into a stationary truck, trapping the two deceased individuals beneath it.

On Saturday, a gas cylinder exploded in the Big Tree area of Orazi, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, leaving 17 people with serious burns. Reports indicate that the explosion occurred while the operator was refilling the gas cylinder, resulting in a fire that spread rapidly, damaging nearby shops and the goods displayed outside.

Sources noted that many of those affected by the fire were passersby close to the shop at the time of the explosion. All victims were promptly taken to the Emergency Unit of Rivers State University Teaching Hospital for urgent medical attention.
