Nigerian President Bola Tinubu extended an invitation to United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to visit Nigeria this year. According to the Presidency, the UAE President accepted the invitation during bilateral talks on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025.

The invitation was made on Wednesday night during their meeting at the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, where President Tinubu was a guest and delivered Nigeria’s position on global challenges such as climate change. The UAE President expressed his country’s desire to strengthen economic cooperation between Nigeria and the UAE.

The Presidency stated that Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan discussed strategies to attract investment into Nigeria. President Tinubu highlighted the positive impact of his government’s economic reforms, which have fostered growth and stability, drawing interest from foreign investors, including international oil companies. He urged the UAE to collaborate with Nigeria for economic development and expressed gratitude to Sheikh Al Nahyan for the warm welcome extended to him and his delegation since their arrival.

Accompanying President Tinubu at the meeting held at the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental in Abu Dhabi were Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Finance Wale Edun, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.

The UAE President was accompanied by several high-ranking officials during the meeting, including Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; and H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Additional attendees from the UAE included Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology; and Salem Saeed Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to Nigeria.
